Shall I fall? Will your hands be there to catch me… Will you always be there to test me? Will you allow me the courage to rage on? I look at the steps before me and ladder I have just climbed no longer seems as steep. I gently place my foot on the first steps still reluctant and I doubt everything.

These flames explode in a glory. Even kings stop and stare. Never do I flinch instead I remain heartless.
Today let’s take a moment to open our hearts and accept the differences that have been bestowed upon us. Many of us claim to have an open mind but when we are faced with these disparities among our brothers or sisters we shamefully turn away. This lack of understanding are limits we place on each other; and there is no end to them. What makes it so foolish is that we inflict negativity on our own brothers and sisters.
Martin Luther King Jr. did not represent only one type of person instead he mirrored American society. He called upon us to rise up as a nation. Yet, we can only do this when we end the habit of placing barriers for each other. Keeping in mind, when MLK said “not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character” there was as much importance in the latter part of his statement as the initial. All must take the opportunity to let their character shine! Fight for it! Be prepared to seize it!

Frantically I try to grip you closer But I can never gain enough length to capture you. I feel you falling further away and the torture begins, Desperation sets in, desire overcomes me. The unsatisfied anticipation of saving your life engulfs me Until I. Can’t breathe myself And now I begin to realize I can’t save us both.
